Danville to Induct Laffoon, Track Team into Athletic Hall of Pride
DANVILLE – A legendary boys’ basketball coach and a State Champion girls’ track team will be honored Saturday evening as they will be inducted into Danville’s Athletic Hall of Pride. The ceremony will take place Saturday afternoon between the JV and Varsity boys’ basketball games against Davis County at the DHS gym. Tip off for the JV game is set for 2 p.m. with the induction ceremonies at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Ken Laffoon will be inducted as the 2024 Coach and is known through Southeast Iowa for his rise to prominence with Danville High School basketball teams. He was inducted into the Iowa Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2019 and was a NHSACA National Coach of the Year Finalist in 2016. He was also named NFHS Iowa State Coach of the Year in 2015. He coached Danville to two State Championships and two State runner-up teams during his tenure while compiling a record of 433-121 at Danville and a personal career record of 508-181.
The Danville 2017-2018 Girls’ Track Team brought the first State Track Championship title to the halls of Danville and will be honored as the 2024 Team inductees. They garnered four first place finishes and medaled in two others at the 2018 State Track Meet enroute to the Class 1A State Championship. Members of that team that will be honored are: Alyssa Pfadenhauer, Alexis Bauer, McKenzie Speer, Kathryn Luers, Grace Grothe, Addison Parrott, Ashley Pfadenhauer, Kaley Eisenmann, BreAnn Yaley, Kenzi Downing, Drew Fox and Breanna Teel along with coaches Lucas Gourley, Amanda Richardson and Natalie Ford.
