Greetings Danville community,

My name is Pat Wallace and I am both excited and proud to be serving as the superintendent of the Danville Community School District. I am a passionate educator with a determination to help all students become successful in their lives academically and beyond. My passion for education comes from my upbringing in a lower income, single-parent household where I relied heavily on my male teachers and coaches to be my role models. It is through these positive experiences I knew I wanted to be a role model and help all students, including those in similar situations to mine, to be successful in all aspects of their lives. I believe that passion and determination to help others is what has led me here to Danville and I know together we can help our students achieve great things in their lives.

Prior to arriving in Danville, I attended Coe College where I majored in education and history while also playing football. I then moved back home to Missouri where I initially served as a middle school social studies teacher, activities director, and high school football coach. I then transitioned into a role as an assistant principal of a K-5 elementary school and have spent the last five years as the head principal of a second through fifth grade elementary school. In my time as head principal our school earned recognition as a Missouri and National School of Character which honored our achievement of both academic excellence and strong character education. In addition I led our school through significant programming changes which helped us rise from the bottom quarter of elementary schools in Missouri into the top quarter. These successes afforded me the opportunity to speak at both state and national level conferences as well as being invited to be on a practitioner panel at Yale University. I’m excited to bring these experiences to Danville and look forward to continuing the great things already happening here and helping our district to be even better.

My personal mission through my leadership at Danville is that the students are loved and successful; the staff are valued and empowered; and you, the parents, families, and community members, are confident and involved. I encourage all of you to get involved in our school and collaborate with us as we work together to achieve student success. I also encourage you to ask questions and contribute ideas, because I want you to feel confident that there is no better place in the world for you to send your students.

Additionally, I would like to introduce you to three people who are my backbone, my wife Valerie, my daughter Aspen Grace, and my son Bennett. My wife is from the area and grew up on a farm in Oakville, so we are thrilled to be back in Iowa. I am excited that both Aspen and Bennett are Danville students. Aspen will be in 2nd Grade and Bennett will be attending Kindergarten. Family is very important to me and I hope you gain a family feel from our school district as well.

In closing, just as I am trusting our school district with Aspen and Bennett, I know you are entrusting us with the future of your child, and that is a privilege I do not take lightly. Please contact me with any questions, comments, or ideas and I look forward to the upcoming school year.

Go Bears!
